English is a world language

When we used to be children and began to study English, we must have faced such question:why English is studied by most people? Why not Chinese, for example, is a world language? But there are so many people living in China(about one billion and three hundred million)! During some time, when we studied history, we understood why English is a world language now. It is because of colonial lands which Great Britain gained and where spread English. From those times English have been being is a world language, as the lands of Great Britain were spread all over the world, and influenced all people. So there are a couple of words from history, but, all the same, now English is among the important languages and takes the first place by the number of people who use it all over the world. For example, the Wide World Web, Mass Media are based on the usage of English language, even not on the usage of English, but if to say correctly, the most information is on English. Nowadays English is a language of international business and scientific conference and also the main language of international tourism. "What is about tourism?" - somebody can ask you, but you can answer:"Existence of common language of international tourism is very important not such as for administrative workers, managers, so as for people who are going to travel to one or another country. It is important for people because they must get information about this country, places of interest or resorts, must know traditions and customs of country in order to have imagination about place they are going to be. So English is the main language of international tourism. Also common language is necessary for joining people living all over the world and for gathering them in one big family. So English became the language of international communication.
Also pop-music, advertising, TV, computers and video games are on English, but if all these things were on different languages, it would be difficult for all people to understand. Our interests are different and spread all over the world, in this case we all must know one common language to be together with persons holding the same views. In fact English is native for five hundred million people, and one billion people speak it as a second language.
So it is fair that English is considered to be a world language.
